Though we all effortlessly text without indiscretion of what will happen to our neck we want you to know the risks that can occur:
Flattening of the Spinal Curve        Onset of Early Arthritis

Spinal Misalignment                           Disc Herniation Disc Compression

Muscle Damage                                    Nerve Damage

Loss of Lung Volume Capacity     Gastrointestinal Problems

While it is nearly impossible to avoid technologies that causes the issue individuals should make an effort to look at there phones with a neutral spine and avoid spending hours every day hunched over, So Imagine for every inch the head tilts forward the pressure on the spine doubles.

Clear Scoliosis Treatment (STC)

Clear Scoliosis Treatment works with the body restoring the proper structure and function of the spine. This done by re-training the bodys own system of brain to nerve to muscle communication and positioning. This communication system is known “propriception”. A vital tool in the CLEAR Scoliosis Treatment is the CLEAR Scoliosis Traction Chair (STC). THe STC has been specifically designed to correct and rehabilitate the scoliotic spine, especially when the scoliosis has reached an advantage stage, where the COBB angle is above 25 degrees. If a patient has a Cobb angle of above 30 degrees or more it is a requirement of the CLEAR Treatment to have an STC for home use to produce, effective, long- lasting change.

Traditional Orthopedic Treatment for Scoliosis

Traditional orthopedic treatment for scoliosis is limited to 3 options. The first for MILD scoliosis is OBSERVATION, which is simply waiting , taking periodic X-rays, and watching scoliosis until it has reached a point where the intervention is necessary. At this point, orthopedic medicine takes takes the next step.

For MODERATE scoliosis the next step is BRACING, which uses various types of restrictive structures on the outside of the body. Since the goal of bracing is only to stabilize the spine, it does not offer any hope of correcting the spine. A brace is to be worn 23 hours each day, and as a result the core muscles of the torso can become weak, causing the curve to become worse once the brace is no longer used. In addition, the trauma of wearing a brace during the middle or high school years may leave psychological scars that can last a lifetime.

The final option for SEVERE scoliosis is SURGERY, which involves the insertion and attachment of metal rods to the spine itself. This solidly fuses the bones of the spine causing permanent disability through loss of spinal motion. The procedure does not guarantee permanent correction, reduced pain or even improved appearance. With surgery the goal is simply to make the spine look straighter on an Xray.

Keeping your Kids Ahead of the Curve

Scoliosis is a disease of the spine where, for various and sometimes unknown reasons, the spine starts to curve sideways. A mild case of scoliosis can impair the body’s ability to exercise to the best of its ability; this can be of great concern to martial artists, dancers, gymnasts, and other athletes who want to achieve their maximum potential. If it worsens, scoliosis can cause cosmetic deformities; this is often accompanied by psychological, emotional, and social problems. Young people with scoliosis can be more prone to depression and alcohol abuse because of their condition. The key to preventing this lies in awareness and early detection. As with any disease, whether the flu or a case of cancer, earlier detection equals superior long-term outcomes.

Scoliosis tends to arise between the ages on 9 and 13.

It is very important to have your child screened for scoliosis during this time!

How do you know if your child has scoliosis? The most common method is the Adam’s Forward Bending Test; in this test the child bends forward at the waist with the back visible, and the parent observes the back for signs of asymmetry. Other signs may include:

Dresses or shirts hangs unevenly on the back
The shoulders may appear unlevel
One rib or shoulder blade may stick at more on one side

Scoliosis tends to affect female more then males. If you are concerned that your son or daughter might have scoliosis, it is important to bring them into a scoliosis specialist for an evaluation right away. If left untreated, scoliosis can require surgery. By being aware of the danger of scoliosis, you can ensure that your son or daughter always stays “ahead of the curve”
